Verrucae / Plantar Warts Verrucae pedis or Plantar warts are caused by a virus and can closely resemble corns, so need correct diagnosis before treatment. There are a range of treatment options to get the fastest results available at Clonmel Foot Clinic. Shin splints, ankle sprain, sports injuries (See orthotics) Hard skin (callous/corns) These can be caused by ill-fitting footwear, casuing excess pressure or friction; but they can also be related to poor foot structure and function. These are painlessly removed and a treatment plan provided to help prevent recurrence. Foot odour / excessive perspiration / bromhidrosis If you or a family member has ‘stink-foot’, you’ll know! This condition, properly termed bromhidrosis is usually the result of keratin breakdown in the presence of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweat production). The problem is rarely due to hygience issues. Ask for our special insoles that fix, not mask, the problem. |
Cracked Heels Hard, cracked skin around the heels can be unsightly and painful. It is often seen in the summer months, when wearing open-backed sandals or flip-flops. This can be painlessly reduced; we stock professional-grade moisturising urea creams to prevent recurrence. Bunions (hallux valgus) Hallux valgus (Bunions) is a deformity where the big toe deviates from its correct position. This can lead to painful pressure-points on the big toe and other parts of the foot. Footcare during Pregnancy General nail & skin maintenance can be a problem when it is too difficult to reach the feet, and you need to take extra care for overstressed feet carrying those extra pounds! Care for 'ageing feet' Feet that have covered many miles and may be suffering from ‘wear & tear’, osteoarthritis, deminished padding on the sole, or decreased circulation. Or where it may be difficult to reach your feet, and see what you are doing for correct self-care. |
Ingrown Toenails
Usually, a simple trim and nail-cutting advice will fix the problem and alleviate pain. However, if required, we specialise in nail surgery for permanent removal of a nail section (and occasionally the full nail) using local anaesthetic. This is usually performed for ingrown toenails that have failed to respond to other treatments, or are infected. Minimum time is required for recovery (usually just one day).
